STOCKPILE YARD · CAMDEN, NJA 56-Foot Stockpile and 17 More, Camden
A yard full of stockpiles, one of them 56 ft tall. The yard needed volumes, so we mapped every pile from the air.
One flight · 18 piles measured · 214,000 cubic yards · Surface for volumes
The site
This yard in Camden is full of stockpiles of every size, up to one that stands 56 ft tall. Measuring piles on foot means climbing every one with a rod.
What we did
Our FAA Part 107 certified pilot mapped the whole yard in one flight. From it we built a point cloud of every pile and an orthomosaic with half-inch pixels.
Every pile was measured above its own toe: 18 piles, from 100 cubic yards up to 184,700 for the biggest. In all, the yard holds 214,000 cubic yards of material, and we delivered a surface the surveyor can run volumes from.
Why yards keep track: in New Jersey, a recycling yard for concrete, asphalt and brick can only store the amount its DEP approval allows, and unprocessed material can't stay on site for more than a year.
